Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Role – Underground Development Service Crew

Reporting to the Development Supervisor, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient installation, inspection and maintenance of underground services infrastructure that supports development activities across the operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installation and maintenance of underground ventilation ducting (vent bag systems)
  • Installation and maintenance of air, water and firing line services
  • Conducting pre-start inspections and operational checks on underground equipment
  • Ensuring underground services are installed and maintained to operational standards
  • Completing accurate handovers, shift reports and operational documentation
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards across work areas
  • Supporting competency development and operational training initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, productivity and cost performance
  • Contributing to a positive safety culture through hazard identification, reporting and risk management activities

About You

You are a safety-focused underground mining professional who enjoys working within a high-performing team in a remote operating environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous underground service crew experience (preferred)
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
  • RPLs for Light Vehicle and Integrated Tool Carrier (desirable)
  • Nationally accredited Working at Heights qualification
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (advantageous)
  • Demonstrated understanding of underground mining practices
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to safety and operational excellence

Work Environment & Benefits
