Underground Safety Trainer

Join a growing underground operation where safety, people, and performance come first.

We’re looking for an experienced Underground Safety Trainer to play a key role in driving a strong safety culture across our Northern Operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys balancing training delivery, coaching onsite teams, and supporting broader safety initiatives.

This position operates on an 8:6 FIFO roster, providing a strong balance between site engagement and time off.

About the Role

Reporting into the site leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality WHS training and safety support across underground operations, ensuring compliance while actively influencing safe behaviours across the workforce.

You’ll work closely with supervisors, operational teams, and leadership to embed safety systems, uplift capability, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate underground safety training, inductions, and refresher programs
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, site standards, and training frameworks
  • Support onboarding of new starters and contractors
  • Coach and mentor operational teams in safe work practices and hazard awareness
  • Assist in incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments underground
  • Maintain accurate training records and compliance systems
  • Partner with leaders to improve safety performance and culture onsite
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of training materials and procedures

About You

You’re a safety-focused professional who thrives in a site-based environment and enjoys working closely with people at all levels.

You will bring:

  • Experience in underground mining operations (essential)
  • Background in safety, training, or a combined HSE role
  • Strong ability to engage, coach and influence frontline teams
  • Solid understanding of WHS legislation and mining safety practices
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (highly regarded)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage training compliance requirements
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
