About the role
Hancock Iron Ore is currently seeking a Trainer Assessor – Capability Supportto join the team based at our Port Operations in Port Hedland. Reporting to the Superintendent Training, you will apply your expertise in training and assessment to directly support the capability, safety and performance of our frontline workforce. This position offers a rewarding mix of hands-on operational training, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to deliver practical learning outcomes while also helping evolve the systems, tools and resources that support them.
Working alongside operational leaders, subject matter experts and other trainers, you will help ensure our training is current, compliant and aligned to the needs of a fast-paced port environment. Duties
- Deliver high-quality operational training, coaching and competency assessments across Port Operations to support a safe, capable and competent workforce
- Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC), refresher training and assessments in line with the Training and Competency Management Framework
- Review, develop and maintain practical training and assessment resources to ensure materials remain current, compliant and fit for purpose
- Support the development of digital and blended learning solutions using contemporary learning technologies to improve learner engagement and workforce capability
- Work closely with operational leaders, subject matter experts and trainers to identify opportunities to improve training systems, standards and practices
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality, consistency and effectiveness of training and assessment across Port Operations
Skills and Experience
- Experience delivering competency-based training and assessment within mining, ports, rail or a similar operational environment
- Demonstrated operational experience in Port Operations or a comparable frontline environment, with the ability to apply practical operational knowledge to training outcomes
- Experience developing, reviewing and improving training resources, assessment tools, competency frameworks or training systems
- Confident user of Learning Management Systems, with strong digital literacy and the ability to support digital or blended learning solutions
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with operational leaders, subject matter experts and trainers and assessors to improve training quality, consistency and learner outcomes
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent, and an Open “C” Class Manual Licence
- Relevant high-risk work licences, e-learning authoring experience, auditing qualifications or higher learning/training qualifications will be highly regarded
