At Granny Smith Gold Mine, owned and operated by Gold Fields, we’re offering a rare opportunity to step into the mining industry as a Trainee Underground Truck Driver. No underground experience? No problem. If you have the right attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety, we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed.

The Opportunity

As a Trainee Underground Truck Driver, you’ll learn the ropes of underground truck haulage while working alongside experienced operators in a modern underground gold mine. You’ll play an important role in moving ore and waste safely and efficiently while developing valuable skills that can lead to a long-term career in mining.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Production, this role is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract based at Granny Smith Gold Mine, and is available on an 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off rotating roster (FIFO from Perth)

Skills & Qualifications:

We’re looking for people with the right mindset and attitude to thrive in underground mining. You’ll bring:

  • A strong commitment to working safely and teamwork
  • A valid WA Manual C Class driver’s licence (essential)
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Great communication and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience in mining, construction, heavy industry and machinery operation is advantageous, but not essential

About the role:

  • Learning to operate underground haul trucks
  • Learning to transport ore and waste safely throughout the underground mine
  • Attending and conducting pre-start inspections and basic equipment checks
  • Working closely with the underground production team to support mining activities
  • Following strict safety procedures and site standards, ensuring awareness of location within the mine
  • Attending all designated rostered days, arriving fit for work and punctually for shifts
  • Learning and developing skills to progress within underground operations
