Our Opportunity
Work Location: Hedland Operations
Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster: 14 Day On / 14 Days Off - FIFO ex Perth or residentially based in Port Hedland
We are currently seeking an experienced Track Maintenance Technician to join our Hedland Operations team. Reporting to the Track Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient rail infrastructure across our operations.
This position is suited to a motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, thrives in a team environment, and is committed to maintaining Fortescue’s strong safety culture. You will be responsible for executing scheduled track maintenance activities while contributing to the ongoing reliability and performance of our rail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and uphold Fortescue’s Values in all aspects of work
- Work safely and comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Complete scheduled maintenance activities efficiently and within designated timeframes
- Carry out track maintenance tasks to a high standard, ensuring infrastructure reliability and integrity
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors and fellow crew members to achieve operational objectives
- Respond to call-outs and breakdown maintenance as directed by the Crew Supervisor
- Participate in mandatory training and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management
Qualifications and Experience
- Current HR Driver’s Licence
- Excavator and Loader tickets/licences
- Certificate II in Infrastructure (or equivalent)
- Relevant rail training certification or similar qualification
- Previous experience working within the TPI rail network or similar heavy haul rail operations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet operational deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and compliance
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
