About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the delivery of telecommunications systems to ensure technical excellence, effective coordination, and integration of telecoms infrastructure across all phases of the project, from design through to commissioning
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of telecommunications scope (fibre, transmission, radio, CCTV, PA, passenger information, etc.) across project packages
- Coordinate design reviews and ensure compliance with rail standards, project specs, and safety requirements
- Manage interfaces between telecom systems and other rail disciplines (signalling, electrical, civil, stations)
- Review and approve contractor designs, method statements, and technical submittals
- Support procurement activities, including technical evaluations and vendor engagement
- Monitor contractor progress, quality, and performance against program and budget
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex engineering issues during design and construction
- Ensure installation and integration of telecom systems meet operational and performance requirements
- Participate in site inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
- Manage risk, identify issues early, and implement mitigation strategies
- Support system assurance, verification, and validation activities
- Contribute to safety in design, constructability, and safe work practices on siteeport on commissioning status, risks, and performance metrics
About You / Requirements
- Degree qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Relevant Rail Industry Worker competencies
- Demonstrated experience delivering telecommunications systems on large-scale rail or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of rail telecom systems (fibre, transmission, radio, CCTV, PA, passenger information systems)
- Experience working within complex, multidisciplinary project environments
- Solid understanding of relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements (rail and infrastructure)
- Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and technical interfaces
Qualifications & Certifications
- Degree qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Rail Industry Worker competencies
