Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact

Join Newmont, a global mining leader, as a MineStar Builder. Reporting to Superintendent – Operations Control Room, you’ll play a key role in optimising underground mining operations by managing and configuring the MineStar fleet management system (FMS) to ensure seamless execution of mine plans.

As part of our team, you will

  • Integrate mine plans into MineStar and manage level design setups.
  • Troubleshoot Fleet Management Systems (MineStar) and maintain data quality.
  • Provide relief coverage as a Mine Controller when required.
  • Collaborate with Control Room Operators and technical teams to improve efficiency.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

  • Experience with MineStar, Pitram, or Modular systems (preferred).
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Underground mining experience (essential).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Strong alignment with Newmont’s values of Safety, Integrity and Sustainability
  • Current manual driver’s license

You work environment

The role involves a FIFO schedule of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster, which will involve working night shifts. Approved departure locations for the point of hire are Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth, and Brisbane. This position is based at Newmont Tanami Operations, a remote site on Aboriginal freehold land in the Northern Territory.
