About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Marketing Analyst to join Hancock Iron Ore’s Sales and Marketing team.

Reporting to the Principal Market Analysis and Price Strategy, this role supports the development of market insights, pricing analytics and product value assessments that underpin data-driven commercial decision-making. You will help build and maintain market data, analytics and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities, while also contributing to value-in-use and value-in-market models that quantify product value across customer segments. Your work will directly inform iron ore price forecasting, product positioning, realised price optimisation and broader commercial outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and analytical professional who is commercially minded, to connect product performance with commercial strategy. The role gains exposure to customer-facing technical marketing activities and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of Hancock Iron Ore’s Sales and Marketing function.

Duties

  • Support the development, integrity and usability of CRM and market data systems, including data inputs, structure, validation and quality assurance processes
  • Maintain structured market intelligence to support technical marketing, product positioning and commercial decision-making
  • Analyse the relationship between product chemistry, mineralogy, metallurgical performance and customer value outcomes to support technical and commercial decision-making
  • Develop, maintain and enhance value-in-use and value-in-market models, including product differentials, ensuring alignment with customer processes, product characteristics and market conditions
  • Provide technical input into product positioning, blending strategies, specification decisions and realised price optimisation
  • Support customer-facing technical marketing activities by preparing analysis, contributing to engagement materials and participating in discussions on product performance and value
  • Translate technical and analytical outputs into clear commercial insights, presentations, briefing materials, executive summaries and regular market or performance reporting
  • Support iron ore market and pricing analysis, including price forecasts, quarterly outlooks, scenario modelling, sensitivities and market-based product differential assessments

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant technical discipline, such as Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in ironmaking and/or steelmaking, with a strong understanding of steel production processes and raw material behaviour
  • Understanding of iron ore quality characteristics, steelmaking processes, metallurgical performance drivers and value-in-use principles
  • Demonstrated capability in data analysis, modelling and structured problem solving, with advanced Excel skills; exposure to Python or BI tools will be highly regarded
  • Experience translating technical information into clear commercial insights, including preparing presentations, briefing materials and reports for business leaders
  • Ability to engage with customers, market sources and industry stakeholders; Mandarin language fluency will be well regarded
