About the role
Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, the Technical Advisor – Hoisting provides specialist technical leadership and support for the reliability, statutory compliance, and maintenance of hoisting assets across site. The role works closely with maintenance, operations, and planning teams to optimise hoisting asset performance and support safe execution of maintenance and shutdown activities.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of winders, ropes, conveyances, and shaft infrastructure while ensuring compliance with legislative and Australian Standard requirements.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Developing and maintaining maintenance and monitoring strategies for hoisting assets
- Managing statutory inspection programs and ensuring critical controls are effective
- Supporting and coordinating hoisting shutdowns from planning through close-out
- Providing technical troubleshooting and leading root cause analysis activities
- Managing rope and attachment lifecycle tracking, inspections, and records
- Coordinating NDT, OEM, and specialist inspections and integrating outcomes
- Maintaining hoisting technical documentation, drawings, and work packs
- Coaching and mentoring maintenance teams on hoisting best practices and safe work methods
About you
You are a technically strong mechanical professional with significant experience in hoisting or shaft systems within mining or heavy industry. You bring deep technical knowledge, a structured approach to risk and compliance, and the ability to provide technical leadership without direct line management responsibility.
- You hold a mechanical engineering or relevant trade qualification, or equivalent hoisting experience
- Experience with winders, ropes, conveyances, brakes, sheaves, and shaft infrastructure
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and inspection requirements
- Experience developing SWIs, SOPs, and technical documentation
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
