About the Company Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company headquartered at 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi, Commune de Manika, Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The operating centre is located approximately 42 km from Kolwezi. MUMI operates an open-pit copper and cobalt mine and owns a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid production facility.

Role Overview MUMI is recruiting for a Senior Manager – Employee and Industrial Relations. The role reports directly to the Manager - HR & Administration and is a leadership position. The incumbent will promote positive and constructive labour relations in a respectful working environment, compliant with labour law and company standards. The role supervises employee relations, industrial relations, disciplinary management and regulatory compliance, while supporting safe, sustainable and high-performing mining operations through proactive conflict management, effective social dialogue, and the application of best practices in professional relations.

Qualifications & Experience Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Industrial Psychology, Law, Administration or Business Administration, or equivalent.

Experience: minimum 7 years’ proven experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or a related field. Mining, industrial or heavy industry experience is a major asset. Strong knowledge of labour legislation, industrial relations, collective agreements and disciplinary management. Experience in a multi-cultural, unionised operational environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on all employee relations and industrial relations matters
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with employee representatives and trade unions to foster a harmonious social climate
  • Organise union elections, coordinate statutory meetings and monitor implementation of agreed actions
  • Prepare, coordinate and support negotiations, review and implementation of the Collective Agreement
  • Manage employee claims, conflicts and disputes using effective mediation and negotiation techniques while ensuring procedures and timelines are observed
  • Ensure compliance with DR Congo labour legislation, Glencore standards and internal company policies on labour relations and discipline
  • Coordinate audits conducted by government authorities and certification bodies; track recommendations and implement corrective actions
  • Oversee all disciplinary procedures for employees up to Superintendent level, ensuring fairness and timely handling
  • Advise and support operational managers in managing labour relations, disciplinary measures and social legislation implementation
  • Track trends in employee relations, disciplinary files, grievances and protected concerns; produce analyses and reports for Management
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems, dashboards and KPIs related to employee relations to support data-driven decision making
  • Collaborate with the Training and Development department to implement awareness programmes on professional relations, labour law and best managerial practices
  • Promote a respectful working environment, employee wellbeing and initiatives to enhance staff engagement
  • Integrate Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainable Development (HSE&SD) principles into labour relations management and promote responsible behaviours at work
  • Ensure compliance with Glencore environmental management requirements and MUMI’s environmental policy
