Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact

Reporting to the Superintendent, Fixed Plant, an excellent opportunity exists for a driven and safety-focused team member to step into the role of Electrical Supervisor in our Fixed plant Maintenance Department. This position offers a chance to lead by example and foster a team aligned with Newmont’s core values: Safety, Integrity, Sustainability, Inclusion, and Responsibility. Your leadership will help foster a proactive, safety-first maintenance culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence

As part of our team, you will

    • Lead the planning and execution of underground electrical maintenance activities, ensuring they are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all statutory and operational standards.
    • Coordinating preventive and predictive maintenance to optimise reliability and minimise downtime
    • Coordinate daily activities aligned with mine plans and schedules
    • Supporting team development through mentoring, feedback, and training
    • Monitoring safety compliance through regular audits and risk assessments
    • Collaborating with Planning, Reliability, and Procurement to improve equipment performance and maintenance outcomes
    • Managing contractor performance and ensuring maintenance specifications are met
    • Reporting on KPIs and providing insights to senior leadership

Prerequisites for your success in this role

    • Relevant electrical trade qualification with HV Switching, supported by mining certifications and/or a relevant mining qualification.
    • Strong experience coordinating electrical maintenance in a mining or similar environment
    • Sound understanding of underground maintenance practices and compliance requirements
    • Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and allocate resources to meet operational targets
    • Demonstrated leadership in team development and safety performance
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams
    • Practical knowledge of mining operations, systems, and safety protocols
    • Current Australian driver’s licence
    • Mask fit ready

    • FIFO 8|6 roster (8days on | 6days off)
    • Reside in our fully equipped accommodation village
    • Approved point-of-hire locations: Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane
