About Antapaccay
Antapaccay is a copper mining operation owned by Glencore Group since 2013. It began as an operation in November 2012, after years of exploration investment to extend the Tintaya mine life. The mining camp is located in Espinar Province, Cusco region, at 4,100 metres above sea level. This operation contributes to sustainable development in Espinar by creating direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local economy through purchases from local companies, and investing in social projects in our area of influence.
About the Role
Site/location: Antapaccay mining camp (Espinar, Cusco) Roster: 4x3
Purpose of the position Lead, supervise and control the evaluation and implementation of special projects, technologies and continuous improvement at the mine, ensuring alignment with long-term mine planning. The role exists to ensure these optimization initiatives (e.g., design innovation, automation, and operational infrastructure) are executed within scope, budgets and schedules, adding value to the business through cost reductions, productivity gains and the assurance of a safe and responsible operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise mine planning and the execution of special projects in all development stages: conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility and execution.
- Coordinate continually and strategically with the Mine Planning Superintendent to integrate initiatives and special projects within mining sequences and operating plans.
- Manage the capital (CAPEX) and operating (OPEX) budgets of the projects under your charge, justifying deviations and optimising return on investment.
- Monitor the performance and compliance of specialised companies and contractors engaged to execute the projects, ensuring adherence to contractual scopes.
- Ensure that all project phases comply strictly with current legislation, the Sustainable Development Policy and Glencore's high HSEC standards.
- Identify, evaluate and propose new mining or software technologies that promote operational excellence in drilling, blasting, loading and haulage processes.
Experience Required
- 4 years of experience in Long-Term Planning in roles of Engineer, supervisor or similar responsibility in open-pit mining.
Desirable
- Prior experience in large-scale copper operations (Large-Scale Mining).
- Experience using fleet management systems (Dispatch Mine) and haulage optimisation.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor or degree in Mining Engineering.
- Desirable postgraduate (specialisation, diploma or master's) in Mining Management, Strategic Planning, Project Evaluation or related fields.
- Intermediate MS Excel.
- Proficient in design and planning software such as Deswik, MineSight, Whittle, AutoCAD, and/or Mineplan (MSPO, MS Haulage).
- Valid driving licence AI current for more than 2 years; desirable AIIa, AIIb or higher.
