About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your leadership capability and technical expertise to drive meaningful and sustainable change at BHP. You will be accountable for guiding and enabling our Specialist Trainer teams across Rail Operations, Rollingstock Maintenance, and Rail Network Maintenance.
With a strong focus on people leadership and a genuine passion for learning and development, you will help shape scalable and sustainable training solutions that support workforce planning and ensure compliance with the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL). Your ability to connect technical expertise with capability development will be key to enabling long-term success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embed a safety-first culture and BOS practices across the Rail Training team through strong and visible collective leadership
- Lead and develop capability within the Training Team
- Oversee training needs analysis and planning aligned with compliance and legislative requirements
- Govern the design and delivery of training programs to meet operational, sustainability and regulatory requirements
- Partner with and influence stakeholders to align training strategy with business priorities, performance targets, and compliance obligations
- Own and uplift reporting and insights to drive performance visibility, inform decision-making, and strengthen compliance and continuous improvement outcomes
- Coordinate and deliver end-to-end improvement initiatives to enhance training effectiveness and support current and future operational needs

What you’ll bring to the team:
- Strong personal commitment to safety and risk management
- Proven desire and capability to build, lead, and engage high‑performing teams
- Proactive approach to promoting a safe and inclusive working culture
- Railway or transport logistics optimisation knowledge (highly regarded)
- Understanding of the Rail Safety National Law and rail safety worker competence requirements
- Knowledge of Vocational Education and Training (VET) methodologies and legislation (highly regarded)
- Strong data analysis and problem‑solving capability
- Demonstrated ability to identify improvement opportunities and deliver improvement projects
- Ability to influence and engage senior leaders and key stakeholders

Location
The role is based at Port Hedland and offers flexible work arrangements, available on a Residential (5:2) or FIFO (5:2 4:3) roster.
