About the Role

Genesis Mining Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Mining Superintendent – Open Pit to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to contribute to a growing business while gaining exposure across a diverse mining operation.

Reporting to the Operations Manager within our Open Pit Mining team, you will play a key role in leading safe and efficient mining activities, mentoring crews, and driving operational performance across site.

The Opportunity

• Lead the delivery of short- and medium-term mine plans to achieve operational and production targets.
• Support the management of our in-house open pit mining team to optimise performance, monitor trends, and implement corrective actions to deliver cost-effective results.
• Direct open pit mining operations and associated contractors to ensure works are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives and contractual commitments.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational governance to achieve site performance targets aligned with business strategy.
• Oversee the control and delivery of capital projects and expenditure in accordance with approved project scope and capital approval processes.
• Assist the Open Pit Manager with Opex and Capex budget development and cost management.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all operational activities.
• Deliver outcomes across production, mine development, infrastructure, and operational strategy.

About You / Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• An unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate.
• A minimum of five years’ post-graduate mining experience.
• Strong knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining operations.
• Technical expertise in open pit mine design, drill and blast, mine optimisation, and planning.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• Experience with mine planning and scheduling software, with Deswik experience highly regarded.
• Operational site-based mining experience, preferably within the gold sector, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• Certifications: Unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate
