Overview
We are seeking a Specialist Trainer Assessor Electrical in the Rail Academy, focusing on the Rolling Stock Maintenance customer portfolio to work on a permanent full time basis. This position will be offered to work on a FIFO basis in a 5D2X 4D3X or 8D6X rosters. If you are an existing BHP employee with housing in Port Hedland a 5D2X roster will also be an option.
This opportunity is suited to a technically experienced and mature individual who operates with a high level of autonomy, demonstrates strong personal accountability, and is comfortable managing their day-to-day workload with minimal supervision.
About the Role
Reporting to the Rail Maintenance Training Supervisor in the Rail Academy, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting capability development across Locomotive and Ore Car Maintenance activities. The role requires a balance of technical competence, professional judgement, and proactive engagement with leaders, operators, and other stakeholders.
Key accountabilities
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations
- An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
- Complying with rail safety working requirements
- Demonstrated maturity, professionalism and sound judgement in all training and assessment activities
- Work autonomously to plan, coordinate and deliver training outcomes
- Apply a strong customer service focus when engaging with operators, leaders and stakeholders
- Effectively prioritize competing demands to meet operational and customer needs
- Participate enthusiastically in core routines and BOS principles
- Participate in driving a continuous improvement culture within the training team
- Delivery and facilitation of Training Packages
- Creating, reviewing and updating Training Packages
- Verifying and assessing the competency of operators in field
- Administering training related documentation and systems
About You
Skills and Experience
- WA Electrical License and standard WAIO Electrical Competencies - Essential
- Certificate IV Training & Assessing (TAE40122 or TAE40116) or Assessors Skill Set (TAESS00019) – Highly Desirable
- Approved Infield Assessor, with prior coaching completed with the Rail Maintenance Training Team and Supervisor - Highly Desirable
- Locomotive Electrical Skillsets - Highly Desirable
- HRWL (Dogging, EWP, Forklift)
- WA C class driver’s license
- Excellent communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to Create & Review Training related documentation
- Confidence in navigating internal processes and procedures (Standardised work, Tempo etc)
- Coordination & planning of training related activities
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
