About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Specialist Projects and Fixed Assets to to join our team, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant project and fixed asset activities.
Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations
• Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development
• Prepare and process Projects and Fixed Assets activities, including WBS, AUC, capitalization, transfers, swaps, and disposals
• Ensure timely actioning of Projects and Fixed Assets activities by working closely with Finance Business Partners, Supply, Master Data Organization (MDO), Tax, co-located Accounting and Reporting teams, and other stakeholders as required
• Manage physical Fixed Assets verification, Asset History Sheet analysis, and other periodic reporting requirements
• Identify emerging trends or issues (e.g. aged AUC balances, negative or non-depreciating assets, asset class or depreciation key issues, tax book variances) and contribute to the resolution of outstanding items
• Perform review and reconciliation of relevant general ledgers to ensure transactions are accurately recorded, follow up with stakeholders, and clear reconciling items
• Prepare briefing papers and support Stewardship Reviews at financial reporting dates
• Assist with internal and external audit queries
• Act as Key User for designated financial processes
• Support SOX compliance and testing by ensuring internal controls are operating effectively and associated risks are addressed
• Contribute to and support global process standardisation initiatives
• Drive continuous process improvement by identifying and supporting the implementation of improvement opportunities within the team and processes
• Support analysis and query resolution as required
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with co-located accounting and reporting teams, Finance Business Partners, asset, and operations stakeholders across multiple global locations
• Provide support to team members and stakeholders as required, act as a backup in their absence, and assist with ad hoc tasks
• Promote open communication, collaboration, and sharing of ideas and information within GBS Finance and co-located accounting and reporting teams
About You
- Proven experience in general finance experience, preferably in a Fixed Assets role
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is required.
- Fluent in Spanish, both written and spoken
- Experience in SAP, Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools
- Exposure to compliance / governance related activities, i.e., SOX
- Knowledge of accounting principles for application to tasks and processes
- Strong engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Results‑driven mindset with a clear focus on achieving goals and delivering outcomes
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work proactively with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Displays initiative in relation to issue resolution and follow up, ability to problem solve and use creativity to arrive at solutions
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage tasks and responsibilities aligned with business objectives
- Analytical mindset, challenges the norm to identify potential scope for simplification and continuous improvement
