About the Role
As an Innovation Business Analyst, you will play a key role in enabling value creation and strengthening the long‑term competitiveness of the MinAm Assets. Acting as a strategic connector between operations, technical functions, and business governance, you will help ensure that innovation initiatives are transformed into tangible opportunities aligned with the Asset’s growth agenda. You will support the identification and development of early‑stage innovation concepts, turning them into robust business opportunities and ensuring their integration into capital decision processes. Through structured analysis, stakeholder engagement, and technical insight, you will help accelerate decision-making, improve portfolio maturity, and contribute to stronger operational and financial performance.
This position will be based at our offices in Santiago under a hybrid work model.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify innovation opportunities and develop deliverables for Asset growth projects and potential LoA processes.
- Manage large datasets to support reporting, dashboards, strategic planning, and decision-making.
- Collect, consolidate, and manage inputs and outputs from LoA and Asset projects.
- Provide strategic insights and feedback to the BHP Invent portfolio.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for Asset Opportunity Plans.
- Gather, structure, and analyze information to support decision-making.
- Support early business cases by organizing required inputs.
- Analyze Asset requests and manage innovation demand, including Innovation Room submissions and problem statements.
- Coordinate Asset reporting processes and recurring updates.
- Execute the Asset Engagement Plan, including routines, briefings, newsletters, and communications.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, commercial studies, or a related technical discipline, with strong grounding in process analysis, optimization, or industrial operations.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the mining industry—preferably in operations, industry, or asset‑based environments—with increasing exposure to operational decision-making.
- Solid understanding of mining processes and key industry concepts.
- Experience in project development, process research, or process improvement initiatives, including early‑stage concept development and technical evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and present business cases integrating technical, financial, and strategic insights.
- Strong capability to work at the interface of operations, engineering, and business, translating challenges into structured opportunities.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken), enabling effective communication with global teams and preparation of senior‑level documentation.
- Strong strategic mindset, learning agility, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
- Competencies in stakeholder management, communication, collaboration, innovative thinking, problem solving, value creation, business acumen, data synthesis, learning agility, safety awareness, and autonomy in cross‑timezone work environments.
