We are seeking a Sourcing Analyst to support our Gladstone assets through the delivery of commercial strategies and sourcing projects. In this role, you will work closely with key project stakeholders in Gladstone, collaborate with PacOps sites across the east coast of Australia, and engage with Rio Tinto Procurement and corporate functions. This is an exciting permanent opportunity in Gladstone, Queensland working a 9-day fortnight.

What the role entails

In this role, you will develop and execute tender activities that support our Gladstone sites and related global spend portfolios. You will help deliver value by applying Rio Tinto’s sourcing methodology and achieving safe, efficient and effective best-total-value outcomes. Joining an experienced and supportive Procurement team, and reporting to the Senior Sourcing Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining sourcing strategies that align with business requirements;
  • Collecting and analysing internal, market and system data, including SAP, Ariba and contract management systems, to identify value opportunities and inform sourcing decisions;
  • Preparing and releasing tender packages, conducting procurement risk assessments, evaluating supplier proposals and developing recommendations to award;
  • Developing and executing negotiation plans, engaging with Contracts and Legal teams as required, and preparing contracts or variations in line with Rio Tinto principles;
  • Collaborating with Procurement colleagues, business stakeholders and suppliers to align sourcing outcomes with site priorities and annual plans;
  • Supporting supplier performance, day-to-day supplier integration and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency and sustainable cost outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in procurement, including sourcing, tender preparation, evaluation, negotiation and contract execution;
  • A sound understanding of procurement processes and principles, supported by strong influencing, stakeholder engagement and change management capability;
  • The ability to work flexibly in a high-paced role, managing priorities and stakeholders while maintaining autonomy and self-motivation;
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Experience with, or an understanding of, SAP, Ariba, MCi Track and Microsoft applications; and
  • Previous experience working on an operational site will be highly regarded.
