About the Role

UGL is seeking an experienced SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) Workpack Developer to join our team on a major Oil & Gas project.

Working on a site-based 2:2 roster, you will be responsible for developing detailed SMP work packs to support hydrostatic testing requirements, with the ability to convert engineering documentation into clear, executable work packages for the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work Pack Development: Analyse schedules, specifications, procedures, drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and engineering documentation to develop SMP Work Packs and Job Cards in accordance with UGL and client requirements.
  • Hydro Test Pack Development: Prepare and review hydrostatic test packs, ensuring all testing requirements, procedures, quality documentation, and completion records are accurately captured.
  • Tracking & Reporting: Monitor work pack progress, maintain status updates, manage revisions, and coordinate with document control teams.
  • Technical Support: Provide practical support to construction and execution teams by resolving technical queries and clarifying work scope requirements.
  • Constructability Reviews: Participate in constructability and work execution reviews to ensure scopes are practical, efficient, and safe to execute.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with project teams, engineers, supervisors, planners, and client representatives to ensure work packs align with project objectives.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure work packs comply with project specifications, client requirements, industry standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the development and enhancement of systems, procedures, templates, and work packaging processes.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve planning, documentation, and execution issues to support project delivery.
  • Safety Focus: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with site, State, and Federal safety requirements.

About You

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical, Boilermaking, Pipefitting, or a related SMP discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience as an SMP Workpack Developer, Planner, or similar role within the Oil & Gas, Resources, Energy, Construction, or Maintenance sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrostatic testing requirements and test pack development.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, structural drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience developing work packs for construction, shutdown, turnaround, brownfield, or maintenance projects.
  • Sound understanding of SMP installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
