Our client is partnering with a major resources organisation to recruit an experienced SMP Engineer to join the Owner's Team delivering a significant brownfield infrastructure project in the Pilbara.
Roster: 2/1 roster
Start date: Early June 2026
Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements
Pay Rate: $110.00 p/h
Please note that only people with relevant experience will be considered.
The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the safe and successful execution of civil and mechanical works within an operating mining environment.
The position is site-based on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth, with an anticipated start in early June.
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will act as the Owner's representative on site, coordinating contractors and ensuring all works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The project includes a broad range of civil and mechanical scopes such as:
- Concrete foundations, slabs, and plinths
- Drainage and roadworks
- Laydown areas and hardstands
- Structural and mechanical installations
- Substation civil works
- Piling and associated infrastructure
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate day-to-day civil and mechanical construction activities
- Monitor contractor performance across safety, quality, and productivity
- Manage QA/QC processes including ITPs, hold points, NCRs, and handover documentation
- Prepare and track RFIs, redline markups, and as-built records
- Maintain short interval plans and 3-6 week look-ahead schedules
- Track quantities, progress, and productivity metrics
- Support variations, claims, and progress valuations
- Ensure compliance with environmental, heritage, and permit requirements
- Drive commissioning readiness and punch list close-out
The ideal candidate will hold the following**:**
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
- 5+ years' site-based engineering experience on mining, civil, or process infrastructure projects
- Strong brownfield construction experience within owner, EPCM, or contractor environments
- Proven experience delivering concrete, piling, civil, and mechanical packages
- Solid understanding of QA/QC systems and Australian Standards
- Strong contractor and interface management skills
- Excellent communication and reporting ability
