About the Role
We are establishing an internal Owner’s Project Delivery capability to support a growing pipeline of capital (growth and sustaining) projects across our operations. This is a lead role for capital procurement packages from $2m - +$200m in value, responsible for end-to-end delivery from early strategy through to contract award and execution support. You will work closely with the Projects teams and key stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with project schedules, risk profiles, and delivery objectives. As part of a small Contracts team, the role will suit someone that is prepared to contribute to business process and system improvement initiatives. This role will suit an experienced professional who wants to step into a pivotal, high-impact position, shaping how capital procurement is delivered within a growing mining business.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of Project Contracts & Procurement Plans (PCPs)
- Establish sourcing strategies aligned to project delivery models (EPC, EPCM, construct-only, supply, etc.)
- Define packaging strategies to optimise cost, risk allocation, and schedule outcomes
- Manage full Source-to-Contract lifecycle for project packages:
- Market engagement and EOI processes
- RFT development and execution
- Tender evaluation (commercial and contractual)
- Contract negotiation and award recommendation
- Lead complex commercial negotiations with Tier 1 contractors, OEMs, and service providers
- Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to:
- Align procurement with project schedules and critical path activities
- Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
- Support mobilisation and contract implementation phases
- Provide expert advice on:
- Contracting models and risk allocation
- Pricing structures (lump sum, schedule of rates, target cost, etc.)
- Key commercial terms, liabilities, and performance frameworks
- Monitor commercial performance of the EPC contract including cost, schedule, payment milestones, and risk exposure.
- Review and certify contractor payment applications and supporting documentation.
- Assess and manage contract variations, change orders, and scope adjustments.
- Support forecasting of contract commitments, accruals, and cost-to-complete estimates.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Manage contractor claims and prepare owner responses in accordance with contractual timeframes.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution strategies including negotiation, mediation, adjudication, or arbitration if required.
- Build strong internal relationships across Projects, Operations, and Finance
About You
You are a senior-level contracts and procurement professional with strong experience supporting capital projects in mining, resources, or heavy industry environments.

- Able to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders
Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Business, Engineering, Law, other related fields, highly regarded but not mandatory.
Experience & Capability
- Minimum 5-7 years in major capital project contracts and procurement.
- Proven experience delivering procurement for capital projects (up to $200m)
- Strong background in Owner’s team or EPCM environments
Technical & Commercial Skills
- High level commercial acumen and negotiation capability
- Strong contract drafting and interpretation skills
- Ability to operate across both strategic and hands-on delivery levels
