Our client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its engineering team supporting the delivery of major mining infrastructure projects across study, FEED, detailed design, and execution phases.

Roster: Monday-Friday Perth based

Start date: Early to mid July 2026

Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements

Pay Rate: $90.00 - $100.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

This is a Perth-based role working Monday to Friday, offering long-term involvement across a portfolio of large-scale capital projects in bulk materials handling and process infrastructure.

You will take ownership of mechanical design deliverables across multiple project phases, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective design outcomes.

The role will see you contribute to the development and review of key mechanical engineering deliverables including equipment specifications, calculations, datasheets, technical documentation, and design packages.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead and deliver mechanical design across study, FEED, and detailed design phases
• Develop engineering deliverables including calculations, datasheets, equipment lists, and technical documentation
• Review and support 3D models, layouts, GA drawings, and detailed design packages
• Manage equipment packages including vendor engagement, technical evaluations, and bid assessments
• Provide technical input into design reviews, risk assessments, and project assurance processes
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and project requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 15+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within mining or heavy industry
• Strong background in bulk materials handling systems (conveyors, chutes, feeders, pumps)
• Experience across concept, FEED, and detailed design phases
• Strong capability in mechanical calculations and equipment sizing
• Experience with vendor package management and technical evaluations
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary environments

Highly Regarded:

• Experience with overland conveyor systems and transfer chute design
• DEM modelling experience (e.g. chute flow analysis tools)
• FEA and 3D modelling capability
• Exposure to construction, commissioning, or operations environments
