About the Role
Senior Mechanical / Piping Designer (Casual) based in Melbourne with Hybrid Working arrangements. UGL’s Fuels and Energy East business is seeking a Senior Mechanical / Piping Designer to support brownfield and asset maintenance projects across fuel terminals and petrochemical facilities. Working within our PEM&AM contract, you’ll collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver high-quality piping design and P&ID development, ensuring safe, efficient and fit-for-purpose outcomes. This is a casual opportunity (2–3 days per week initially) with flexibility and potential to expand based on project demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical and piping design using AutoCAD & CADWorx (2D/3D)
- Drafting P&IDs (critical focus area) using CADWorx P&ID
- Produce GA drawings, isometrics and material take-offs (MTOs)
- Build and coordinate 3D models, including clash detection
- Support brownfield projects including tie-ins, site checks and as-built updates
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to meet project deliverables
About You
- 8–10+ years’ design & drafting experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or similar
- Strong expertise in piping design and P&IDs (equally important)
- Proficient in CADWorx and AutoCAD
- Experience in brownfield environments and site-based verification
- Ability to manage stakeholders and work across multiple projects
