**Roster:**4/3 or 5/2 Residential in Port Hedland; or 4/3 FIFO ex Perth

At Fortescue, we know that today’s smart planning is tomorrow’s plant reliability. We’re seeking a forward-thinking Senior Long Term Maintenance Planner to join our Hedland Operations team. Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering Planning, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our maintenance and shutdown strategies are set up for long-term success.
This isn’t just about preparing work orders—it’s about looking ahead, optimising resources, and creating strategies that drive the reliability and longevity of our assets. Your work will directly influence the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of our operations for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of the team responsible for long-term maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown drivers, and long-term capital project and cost tracking.
- Oversee the development of fully scoped and resourced work orders, ensuring execution readiness well in advance
- Guide collaboration with SMEs, reliability engineers, and technical teams to refine scopes and optimise work orders
- Oversee and ensure availability of rotable parts to maintain planning integrity
- Coordinate and track projects using Project Estimate Sheet and DCRM systems
- Provide oversight of monthly capital forecasting; ensuring alignment with work churn and operational priorities
- Govern journalling of OPEX tasks to CAPEX projects to maintain full lifecycle visibility
- Review and direct analysis of shutdown performance outcomes to drive improvements in master data and planning strategies
- Lead continuous improvement of master data to enhance scheduling accuracy
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership of the 2–5 year long-term shutdown calendar and associated drivers
Qualifications and Experience
- We’re looking for someone with the technical knowledge and the long-term vision to see beyond immediate work demands
- Proven experience in maintenance planning within mining, heavy industry, oil & gas, or manufacturing
- Deep understanding of Work Management Processes including WO preparation and rotable planning
- Strong SAP skills for planning, scheduling, and master data management
- Advanced Excel capability for reporting, forecasting, and data analysis
- Experience collaborating across Engineering, Maintenance, and Reliability teams
- Knowledge of shutdown planning, PM05 cost tracking, and continuous improvement
- Ability to forecast workloads and adapt to shifting priorities while keeping long-term objectives in focus
