Senior Geologist Open Pit

About the Role

With continued growth across our Mungari Operations, we’re looking for a Senior Open Pit Geologist to join the team and play a key role in supporting our expanding open pit assets.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be guiding day-to-day geology activities and contributing to longer-term planning and strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to shape in-mine exploration, influence decision-making, and help drive strong geological outcomes across the operation.

A big part of the role is supporting and mentoring your team helping them grow their capability and confidence, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.

You’ll also get involved in reporting, budgeting, and working with drilling contractors, giving you a good mix of technical, leadership, and commercial exposure.

Some of the things you’ll get involved in include:

• Leading and coordinating open pit geology activities to support safe delivery to plan
• Reviewing and interpreting drilling, mapping, and sampling data to inform decisions
• Supporting grade control and resource modelling alongside the Resource team
• Contributing to drill program design to optimise orebody understanding
• Playing a role in short-term forecasting and budgeting processes
• Working with and managing drilling contractors

This role offers a great mix of technical challenge, leadership, and cross-functional exposure, with plenty of opportunity to continue building your career within Evolution.

The position is offered on an 8:6 roster (12-hour days), either FIFO from Perth or residential in Kalgoorlie.

About You

We’re looking for a confident and approachable leader who enjoys supporting others and being part of a strong, collaborative team.

You’ll bring proven experience leading or mentoring geologists in an open pit environment, and you genuinely enjoy helping others develop their skills and succeed. You lead by example, creating a positive team culture where people feel supported, valued, and motivated to do their best work.

You’ll likely bring:

• 6+ years’ experience in open pit mine geology, including grade control and production support
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide, coach, and develop others
• Exposure to drilling programs and managing contractors
• Confidence working with geological modelling and database software (e.g. Datamine, Leapfrog, acQuire or similar)
• A sound understanding of geological practices, standards, and compliance requirements

Alongside your technical skills, you’re someone who:

• Enjoys mentoring and actively contributing to team development
• Communicates openly and builds strong relationships across site
• Takes ownership and remains calm and organised under pressure
• Values safety and fosters a positive, inclusive team environment
