Senior Exploration Geologist

About the Role

FIFO/Field-based WA/NT Integration

Hays is currently partnering with a well-funded and growth-focused exploration business seeking a Senior Exploration Geologist to take ownership of key exploration programs across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

This is an urgent requirement for a driven and accountable individual who is motivated to take full responsibility for their workstreams and deliver outcomes in a high-performance environment.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role combining technical expertise with field execution. You will play a critical role in advancing exploration success through target generation, drilling programs, and data-driven decision-making.

With a balance of field campaign leadership and technical interpretation, you will be empowered to take initiative, influence exploration strategy, and drive tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate exploration programs including soil sampling and drilling (AC, RC & Diamond)
• Take ownership of geological data collection, validation, QA/QC and interpretation
• Drive target generation and 3D geological modelling
• Deliver high-quality logging, sampling, reporting and technical outputs
• Oversee contractors, budgets and field execution to ensure safe, efficient outcomes
• Maintain strong compliance with WHS, environmental and regulatory standards
• Mentor field staff and contribute to a high-performance team culture

About You

You are a self-starter who thrives in an environment where accountability, ownership, and initiative are expected. You don’t wait for direction – you lead from the front and take pride in delivering outcomes.

You will also bring:

• Degree in Geology or related discipline
• Proven experience in Archean gold exploration (highly regarded)
• Strong capability in target generation and geological interpretation
• Experience managing exploration drilling programs and field teams
• Proficiency with industry software (e.g. Leapfrog, ioGAS, Micromine, GIS)
• Solid understanding of WA mining legislation and safety requirements
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong communication skills
• Willingness to work in remote locations and travel as required
