About the Role
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Superintendent, you will be responsible for the effective coordination of all mining-related geotechnical issues within the St Ives Underground to achieve budgeted production and meet all quality standards, including cost, safety, and environmental.
This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off and can be offered either Fly in Fly out from Perth or residential (Kambalda or Kalgoorlie or surrounds).

What You’ll Do
- Help coordinate and supervise geotechnical functions across underground assets.
- Communicate the geotechnical aspects to the workforce, technical team, and management.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns.
- Conduct and partake in medium-term projects as required by the mine to ensure mine-wide stability.
- Collection and analysis of geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, and analysis of rockfall events and ground control issues.
- Ability to cover the daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering
- Contribute to mine plans and designs to ensure maximum ore recovery with continued compliance with ground management plans.
- Update and maintain the Ground Control Management Plant, Seismic Hazard Management Plan and Paste Fill Management Plant
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in Geomechanics, Masters in Geotechnical Engineering (Desirable)
- Extensive proven experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in underground hard rock mining and familiar with open pit mining
- Frontline Management Training, including leadership experience, would be desirable.
- Driver’s license (manual)
- Have or be able to attain AusIMM Chartered Professional Accreditation (Mining Geomechanics).
- A growth mindset, with strong communication, responsibility, and relationship-building skills.
