About the Role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will prepare specifications, reports, calculations, layouts, drawings, and cost estimates for electrical systems. Responsibilities include defining requirements, developing reference designs, integration planning for rolling stock, and ensuring system assurance. The role supports all phases of delivery, produces safe and compliant designs, advises other teams, troubleshoots fleet issues, and manages technical risks with stakeholders.

• Prepare specifications, reports, calculations, layouts, drawings, and cost estimates for electrical systems.
• Define requirements.
• Develop reference designs.
• Integration planning for rolling stock.
• Ensure system assurance.
• Support all phases of delivery.
• Produce safe and compliant designs.
• Advise other teams.
• Troubleshoot fleet issues.
• Manage technical risks with stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Aerospace
• Progressing toward Chartered Engineer, National Engineering Register, and State Registration
• 5-10 years' experience in rail, defence, maritime, infrastructure or power electronics design
• Skilled in electrical simulation, systems engineering, and safety assurance

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong oral/written communication; able to conduct investigations and provide clear reports
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities for rapid engineering support
• Familiar with relevant Australian and international standards
• Experienced in engineering design, change management, and rail operations
• Ability to convey and present to key customers and stakeholders
