Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support a portfolio of major brownfield and greenfield mining projects.
Roster: Monday-Friday Perth based
Start date: Early to mid July 2026
Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements
Pay Rate: $90.00 - $100.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:
Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects within the mining and minerals processing sector.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver concept, FEED and detailed electrical design for major processing facilities.
- Design HV and LV electrical distribution systems, substations, switchrooms, cabling, lighting and earthing systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, equipment sizing, load lists, equipment lists, datasheets, technical specifications and Bills of Materials.
- Develop equipment requisitions and manage vendor packages from specification through to technical evaluation and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Review electrical layouts, 3D models, construction drawings and multidisciplinary design documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Process, Mechanical, Structural, Civil and Instrumentation disciplines.
- Participate in Safety in Design activities including HAZID, HAZOP, constructability reviews and technical risk assessments.
- Provide technical support throughout project delivery, including construction and commissioning where required.
- Deliver engineering work safely, on schedule and within budget.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience delivering electrical engineering projects within mining, minerals processing or heavy industry.
- Demonstrated experience across concept studies, FEED and detailed design.
- Strong experience designing HV/LV power distribution systems, substations and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing vendor packages and technical procurement activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with EPCM project delivery and exposure to construction or commissioning will be highly regarded.
