About the Role
Senior E&I Designer – Data-Centric Design. 12-Month Contract | Perth, WA | Mining & Resources Projects.
This role will suit a designer with strong experience in data-centric design environments, leveraging engineering databases, templates and digital engineering platforms to efficiently generate drawings, schedules, reports and project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand owner and end-user requirements to support successful project delivery.
- Perform conceptual layouts and detailed design activities for electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Lead the delivery of design and drafting activities in accordance with project specifications, industry standards and company procedures.
- Develop and maintain 3D equipment models and intelligent plant design models.
- Utilise data-centric engineering systems and databases to generate:
- Drawings
- Cable schedules
- Instrument indexes
- Material take-offs
- Quantity reports
- Design documentation
- Coordinate closely with Lead Engineers, Design Coordinators and other discipline design teams.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of engineering design deliverables and special item drawings.
- Contribute to capital cost estimates, project schedules and engineering studies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and project assurance processes.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and site execution phases.
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate designers where required.
About You / Requirements
- Advanced Diploma of Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Significant experience as an Electrical & Instrumentation Designer within mining, minerals processing, energy, industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of data-centric design methodologies and digital engineering workflows.
- Experience using one or more of the following platforms:
- MicroStation
- Bentley design tools
- SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL)
- SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/SPIN)
- COMOS
- AVEVA Engineering
- Demonstrated experience working on large multidisciplinary EPCM projects.
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD modelling capabilities.
- Experience leading or coordinating E&I design teams and project deliverables.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate effectively both independently and within collaborative project environments.
- Exposure to large industrial processing plants or heavy industry projects will be highly regarded.
