Your Opportunity

Based in our Osborne Park office, role will move to our new CBD office in Q3. The Senior Cost Controller will be focused on driving Primero’s cost control activities supporting the successful delivery of the project.

Reporting to the Lead Cost Controller, Project Controls Manager and Project Manager, the Senior Cost Controller will be responsible for budget management, expenditure control, forecasting, trend and variance analysis to support our teams in delivering projects within approved cost, schedule, quality, and performance criteria. The role will also involve reporting financial performance across assigned scopes.

Your Key Responsibilities

* Translation of the estimate to an approved project control budget based on the project execution philosophy.

* Establishment and monitoring of the project budget in the cost management software.

* In conjunction with the Planners, align the schedule and cost via WBS, resources and activities.

* Assist the development of the project controls plan, project specific procedures and processes.

* Monitoring and analysing of commitments and actuals to ensure correct coding against the task number budgets to support accurate performance, commitment and estimate to complete.

* Preparation of project forecasts, along with detailed analyses, trending, mitigations and commentary.

* Collecting, analysing and reporting actual and earned hours and the associated trends and movements.

* Monitoring, analysing, and reporting change control with focus on key drivers of deviations and early trends.

* Review timesheet bookings to identify any errors for correcting as well as variances.

* Continuous communication and dissemination of change impacts maintained through the MOC process register.

* Prepare, collate, and deliver project reporting deliverables.

* Assist in the identification of risks and opportunities and suggest ways of mitigating the risks.

* Understanding of agreed scopes, pricing schedule, commercial framework, and reporting obligations against the head contract.

* Development, management, and monitoring of the contract payment cycle and process map.

* Meet all role specific HSE responsibilities, accountabilities and KPIs as per the Primero HSE Management procedures and plans.

What You ‘Can Do’

* University degree preferred (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting or similar discipline), but not essential.

* AACE / ACES qualification preferred, but not essential.

* Greater than 7 years’ experience in cost engineering or cost control is essential, with +2 years in a senior role.

* Experience in the Construction and Engineering, particularly in the Resources and Mining industries.

* Excellent knowledge of Construction methodology to assist with forecasting

* Experienced operator of a cost management tool essential.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong statistical and analytical reporting skills.

* Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerBI.
