Your new opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Contracts Advisor to join a fast-paced mining environment, providing commercial and contracting support across operational and project activities.

The role offers flexibility with two working arrangements available:

• FIFO from Brisbane, alternating one week in the Brisbane office and one week on site in Regional North Queensland
• DIDO, for candidates based within driving distance of site, offering a 4 on / 3 off roster

Working closely with operations, maintenance, projects and key business stakeholders, you will lead complex contracting activities, influence commercial strategies and deliver best-value outcomes that support operational objectives.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with responsibility for tender execution, contractor selection, commercial negotiations and risk management, ideal for an experienced contracts professional who enjoys working closely with operations.

Your new role

As Senior Contracts Advisor, you will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing, tendering, commercial negotiation and award of operational and project contracts. You will:

• Lead sourcing activities across mining operations, maintenance, services and capital works
• Develop and execute contracting and sourcing strategies aligned with operational requirements, budgets and delivery timelines
• Prepare, issue and manage RFIs, RFQs and tenders
• Lead commercial evaluations, cost analysis and contractual risk assessments
• Lead negotiations covering pricing, scope, risk allocation and contract terms
• Provide commercial and contractual advice to key stakeholders
• Draft and negotiate contract terms and conditions alongside legal and internal stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
• Ensure sourcing and contracting activities comply with governance and probity requirements
• Support contract mobilisation and handover following award
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and improved commercial outcomes

What you’ll need to succeed

You will bring strong commercial judgement and demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end contracting outcomes within mining, construction, resources or heavy industry environments.

Key strengths will include:

• 5+ years’ experience across contracts, commercial or procurement roles
• Strong experience leading tenders and commercial negotiations
• Experience providing commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders
• Strong commercial and financial acumen
• Sound understanding of contract structures and commercial risk allocation
• Proven negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within delegated authority and governance frameworks
• Proficiency with ERP systems, tender platforms and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work effectively across office and site-based environments
• A proactive, outcome-driven approach
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance and governance
