Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced SCADA & Controls Engineer to join their Engineering team in Perth.
About the Role
You will be an experienced SCADA and Controls Engineer with a background in electrical power systems, utilities, or renewable energy projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of large-scale renewable energy generation and high-voltage transmission infrastructure, working across advanced control systems, substation automation, and power network projects.
You will play a key role in the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of SCADA and control systems across 220kV/33kV substations and renewable generation facilities.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and develop SCADA and control system architectures for HV substations and renewable energy facilities
- Configure RTUs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and associated control system hardware
- Develop functional design specifications (FDS), technical documentation, and engineering standards
- Support substation automation and power generation control system integration
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning activities, and site acceptance testing
- Troubleshoot technical issues during project delivery and commissioning phases
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, technology, and project stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
- Provide technical input into network architectures, communications, and secure control system environments
Required Experience
- 5+ years' experience in electrical control systems within the power utility, transmission, generation, or renewable energy sectors
- Experience with substation automation and/or power generation control systems
- Strong experience with SCADA, RTU, HMI, and network system design and integration
- Experience configuring and diagnosing RTU, SCADA, and control system environments
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including: IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, Modbus
- Experience with Siemens SICAM A8000, SEL RTAC, SICAM SCC, Ignition, or similar platforms highly regarded
- Experience with PLC programming languages (IEC61131) desirable
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles within industrial control systems (IEC62443) desirable
- Experience supporting FAT, commissioning, and site delivery activities
