Job Statement

We are now seeking a Safety and Emergency Services Advisor to be the key OHS and first response support for a Laverton Operations satellite site.

Reporting to the Laverton Operations Health and Safety Superintendent, this role supports the satellite site operations team in the effective operation and continual improvement of the health, safety and first response components of Genesis Minerals Health & Safety Management System.

The Opportunity:

• Undertaking immediate clinical assessments, first aid and emergency medical treatment of injuries and illness.
• Implementation of emergency related procedures and continually improving emergency response capabilities.
• Maintaining the Medical Centre, ensuring it is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
• Assist with the development, review and implementation of HS management plans, procedures and strategy, achieving agreed HS goals within set timeframes.
• Supporting operational line supervision and contractor partners to build their safety leadership and behaviour capabilities.
• Participating, facilitating and providing coaching as required in risk management processes.
• Supporting roll out of HS initiatives, training and coaching programs.
• Provide in field leadership through coaching, supporting and influencing line supervisors with the utilisation of safety tools and standards (Fatality Risk Control Standards, Event Reporting Systems and MoC).
• Providing coaching in incident management including investigation support, analysis, and corrective action development.
• Contributing to effective internal and external workplace health and safety reporting.
• Contributing to development of Health and Safety Representatives and supporting consultation.
• Implementing and maintaining delivery of respective ERT recruitment and training of site personnel.
• Developing and maintaining site wide emergency scenario risk assessments and TARPS.

We’re excited to hear from you if you have:

• At least 4 years mining safety experience
• Demonstrated high level of computer literacy (MS Office, Pronto, HSE management systems, and Chemalert).
• Experience managing or responding to emergency situations.
• Cert III Mine Emergency Response or ability to obtain
• Incident investigation qualification (ICAM, Tap Root or similar).
• Experience in a similar role within a mining operational environment.
• Cert IV Health Care (Ambulance) or equivalent

The following are desirable however not essential:

• Minimum Certificate IV in Work, Health & Safety.
• Certificate IV Training & Assessment
