About Harmony

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

The Eva Copper Mine is a significant and strategically important project for Harmony marking a major milestone in the company’s copper growth strategy and its long-term commitment to Northwest Queensland. The mine will have a minimum life of 15 years and will involve mining multiple open cut pits providing copper bearing ore to a concentrator. Front-end engineering design is complete, and mine construction is expected to take up to 30 months with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year.

About the role:

An opportunity exists for a Safety Advisor to join a growing site-based team in Cloncurry, North West Queensland. Reporting to the Senior Safety and Training Advisor, this role provides hands-on field safety support across both construction and operational activities, ensuring compliance with site health and safety systems while positively influencing frontline safety behaviours.

This position will suit a Safety Advisor who enjoys being visible in the field, engaging with crews and supervisors and contributing to the development of a strong, values-driven safety culture on a new and evolving project.

This role will be DIDO from local communities or FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville to our site in Cloncurry NW QLD, with local candidates highly regarded. Local employees are paid a regional allowance and a competitive salary. Roster is 8 days on, 6 days off.

Please note this is a maximum term role aligned with the project completion and close out, anticipated to be 31 May 2028. However, there is a possibility the role could become a permanent position once the mine is fully operational.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide field safety support in line with the Safety and Health Management System
  • Assist with site inductions, access control and training compliance
  • Support supervisors with competency assessments and workforce development
  • Assist with incident investigations and emergency response activities
  • Promote safe work practices and intervene where unsafe behaviours are identified
  • Maintain accurate safety and training records

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years’ health and safety experience, ideally in mining
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Current QLD manual driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid qualification
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Safety qualifications and DoneSafe experience desirable
