Darwin FIFO | 8 Days On / 6 Days Off | Wednesday to Wednesday Roster Minimum 6-Month Casual Contract
Hays is partnering with a major global mining organisation to appoint an experienced Safety Advisor for a Darwin-based FIFO opportunity. Supporting a large-scale surface mining operation, this role offers the chance to influence safety performance, partner closely with operational leaders and contribute to a workplace where safety remains at the forefront of every decision.
Working as part of a collaborative HSEC team, you will provide practical safety leadership across site operations, ensuring compliance with company standards, legislative requirements and industry best practice. This is a highly visible field-based role suited to a safety professional who enjoys building strong relationships, driving continuous improvement and creating meaningful safety outcomes on site.
The Role
Reporting into the site HSEC team, responsibilities will include:
- Providing professional health and safety advice to site leaders, employees and contractors.
- Supporting compliance with company health and safety standards, policies and legislative requirements.
- Conducting workplace inspections, safety observations, risk assessments and hazard management activities.
- Reviewing, assisting and completing incident investigations, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Supporting internal and external audit programs and driving closure of audit actions.
- Maintaining and administering the site’s BSafe safety management database.
- Monitoring safety performance and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promoting and reinforcing a positive safety culture through visible leadership and stakeholder engagement.
About You
To be successful, you will possess:
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Safety Advisor or similar role.
- Previous surface mining experience is essential.
- Demonstrated experience working with safety management systems and databases.
- Strong understanding of WHS/OHS legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to influence positive safety outcomes across operational and contractor workgroups.
Highly Regarded
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE).
- Internal auditing qualifications.
- ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training.
- Experience using Bsafe or similar mining safety management systems.
