About the Role

We are seeking a Regional Risk Specialist to support the delivery and embedding of operational risk management practices across our regional and site-based operations. This is a hands-on role, working closely with leaders and frontline teams to identify, assess, and manage risk while ensuring alignment with Alcoa’s global standards.

As a Regional Risk Specialist, you will be instrumental in building a proactive risk and safety culture, supporting the implementation of risk frameworks, and ensuring risk management is embedded into everyday operations. You will collaborate with site leaders, engineers, and control owners to strengthen risk capability and improve operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support stakeholders in the identification, assessment and management of operational risks across the region.
  • Partner with site leaders and control owners to design and implement effective controls and performance standards to minimise risk exposure.
  • Provide support to risk and control owners with risk assessments, control verification activities and risk-informed decision-making.
  • Maintain oversight of risk registers, develop risk insights and reporting to site and regional lead teams and escalate key risks where required.
  • Build risk capability through training, coaching and support to site and regional teams.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Risk Management, Safety, Engineering, Science, or Law) or equivalent experience.
  • Substantial risk management experience in mining, oil & gas, or a similar industry.
  • Proficient in risk methodologies and tools (e.g. Bowtie, FMEA) with strong knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, data reporting, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage change in operational environments.
