Purchasing Officer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to support the procurement of goods and services across a busy operational environment. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, you will be responsible for purchasing, expediting and coordinating materials and services while ensuring cost-effective, timely and compliant procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase and expedite materials, equipment, parts and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Source competitive and reliable suppliers and manage RFQ processes.
• Support cost-saving initiatives across capital, maintenance and operational expenditure.
• Ensure goods and services are procured to the required specifications, quality and delivery timeframes.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure correct material costing.
• Monitor supplier performance and expedite orders to meet business requirements.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver efficient purchasing support.
• Ensure compliance with procurement, commercial and governance requirements.

About You

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a purchasing, procurement or buyer role.
• Experience within the mining, resources, industrial or heavy industry sectors is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory management, logistics and procurement processes.
• Knowledge of commercial purchasing practices and contract terms.
• Proficiency using SAP for procurement and purchasing activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
