Project Mine Geologist
MPI Recruitment
Job Description
If you're an underground geologist who enjoys building models, interrogating data and understanding how an orebody behaves, this role offers more than day-to-day production support.
Working an 8/6 FIFO ex Perth roster, you'll take ownership of geological modelling, data quality and grade control activities that directly support mine planning and production. The role sits at the intersection of geology, mining and technical services, giving you the opportunity to influence decisions through interpretation, analysis and a disciplined approach to geological data.
The operation is supported by ongoing underground development and resource growth, with geological models forming a key part of production forecasting and planning. The deposits are structurally complex and require careful interpretation, strong data management and attention to detail. For someone who enjoys combining technical modelling with practical mining outcomes, there's plenty of depth in the work.
Alongside a competitive salary package, you'll have access to private health insurance, a potential bonus structure and single-room accommodation with your own bathroom. Camp facilities include sports courts and walking tracks, and the roster provides a balance between site responsibilities and time away.
This is a position for someone who wants to spend their time solving geological problems and improving the quality of information used for mining decisions.
You'll be responsible for grade control and geological modelling, management of geological databases and QAQC workflows, support of underground drilling programs and contribution to short and medium-term mine planning. The work combines detailed technical analysis with regular engagement across site to ensure geological interpretation aligns with underground mining outcomes.
What You'll Bring
- Underground production geology experience (base or precious metals)
- Strong 3D modelling capability, ideally using Leapfrog
- Experience managing geological databases and QAQC processes
- Exposure to grade control, resource modelling or mine planning activities
- A degree in Geology and at least five years' mining industry experience.
- Experience in underground gold operations is preferred, though candidates from other underground commodities will also be considered.
- If you're looking for a role where modelling, data quality and geological interpretation are a significant part of the job, we'd welcome a confidential discussion.
Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
