Roster: Monday to Friday
Join our Iron Exploration team and play a central role in shaping the metallurgical understanding of Fortescue’s future growth projects both within the Pilbara and Gabon. We are hiring a Project Metallurgist to join our Resource Characterisation team within Exploration, providing metallurgical expertise and leading geometallurgical activities that directly support Fortescue’s future development projects.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated professional to take a key role in material characterisation and geometallurgical studies across our Exploration portfolio. Based in our Perth office on a Monday–Friday roster, you will manage geometallurgical programs, working closely with the study teams to ensure all activities are delivered to the highest technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, plan and supervise metallurgical test work programs at external laboratories
- Drive continuous improvement in metallurgical testing processes and ore characterisation workflows
- Ensure effective handover, communication and utilisation of metallurgical datasets across stakeholders
- Prioritise and coordinate metallurgical activities to meet business needs efficiently and effectively
- Deliver concise, accurate and timely metallurgical reports
- Analyse data to identify relationships between key metrics and ore characteristics, supporting development of geometallurgical domains.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong safety culture and sound risk awareness
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or similar
- Demonstrated capability in metallurgical test work, supported by operational experience that informs project and study‑level decision making
- Demonstrated experience in iron ore geometallurgical testing and material characterisation
- Proficiency in designing, executing and managing metallurgical test work programs and flowsheets
- Competent stakeholder engaging skills, at lab, within team and across stakeholders
- Clear presentation skillset with a focus on technical learnings
- Strong statistical and data analysis capability; advanced computer skills (MS Office essential)
- Current WA C‑Class driver’s licence.
