About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

About the Role
Reporting to the Project Engineering Lead, the Project Engineer will support the planning and safe delivery of projects within the Newmont Cadia Capital Projects Pipeline. You will provide Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (EIC) expertise across all project phases—from initiation through to close‑out—ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, quality, and budget expectations.
About You
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of HV and LV equipment operation, installation and commissioning, including electrical protection and safety‑in‑design principles. You’ll bring experience in electrical infrastructure design and construction, with the ability to develop, interpret and review technical documentation such as single line diagrams, schematics, loop and termination diagrams, cable schedules, power system studies and IO lists.
You’ll also be comfortable working with consultant‑produced design packages, including PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, functional descriptions, protection studies and equipment or instrument datasheets. Experience with fixed or transportable substation/switchroom design, installation and commissioning will be highly regarded. You will have an unwavering drive to deliver projects safely as per project scope, budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the planning, execution and safe delivery of capital projects
- Ensure project outcomes align with approved scope, quality, schedule and budget
- Work closely with project and operational teams to coordinate activities and minimise production impacts
- Track and report on key project performance indicators (KPIs)
- Prepare project estimates, budgets and Capital Expenditure Request (CER) documentation
Qualifications and experience include:
- Strong project engineering and project management capability, ideally gained across multi‑discipline major or sustaining capital projects.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent
- Experience in resources and/or heavy industry in a project engineering capacity
- Experience leading installation, verification, commissioning and maintenance/operation of EIC systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Exposure to project controls software such as SAP, MS Project or Primavera (preferred but not essential)
Please note this is a 5/2 or 9 day fortnight residential role in Orange NSW. The successful applicant will have unrestricted working rights.
