Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join a major mining project team supporting the delivery of dewatering infrastructure across mining operations.

Roster: 5/2 Perth CBD - 9 hours per day with ad hoc site travel

Start date: End Sept

Duration: approx. 12 months - with potential to extend

Pay Rate: Starting from $85.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical and project engineering support to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will be involved in the delivery and management of water projects supporting the construction of dewatering assets, while providing technical assurance across engineering and construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery and management of dewatering and water infrastructure projects
  • Reviewing preliminary engineering, detailed engineering and construction packages
  • Providing technical support to site management teams and contractors
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors
  • Supporting project planning, risk assessments and project kick-off activities
  • Facilitating project and progress meetings
  • Working with Area Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, Project Managers and contractors
  • Identifying opportunities to improve project schedules and safely reduce delivery timeframes
  • Supporting cost-effective and capital-efficient project solutions
  • Monitoring project performance, reporting and communication
  • Supporting project budgeting and cost control
  • Completing safety audits and ensuring project obligations are met
  • Interpreting and implementing engineering designs, specifications and technical requirements

Required Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 3-5 years' relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex and multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience within the mining industry, particularly non-process infrastructure
  • Dewatering or water infrastructure experience is highly desirable
  • Experience with project budgeting and cost control
  • Experience managing or coordinating external design consultants
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills
  • A solid understanding of construction practices within a mining environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A proactive, accountable and results-driven approach
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements
