About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Project Engineer – Energy, Utilities & Sustainability to lead Council's energy management and sustainability initiatives. Acting as the technical Subject Matter Expert, you will drive strategic energy planning, utility optimisation, renewable energy projects and carbon reduction programs across a diverse portfolio of facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing Council's Energy Strategy, Renewable Energy Roadmap and Energy Efficiency Plan.
  • Managing electricity, gas and renewable energy portfolios across multiple operational sites.
  • Identifying energy efficiency, cost reduction and emissions reduction opportunities.
  • Leading solar PV, battery storage and renewable energy projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Supporting fleet electrification initiatives through energy forecasting, site capacity assessments and EV charging infrastructure planning.
  • Managing energy procurement activities, supplier relationships and utility contracts.
  • Developing business cases, lifecycle cost analyses and investment proposals.
  • Monitoring energy consumption, utility expenditure and carbon emissions performance.
  • Providing technical advice on electrical infrastructure capacity and future energy requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that support Council's sustainability and net zero objectives.
