Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead to join the team supporting the delivery of a major mining construction project. The successful candidate will lead project controls activities including planning, cost control, reporting, forecasting, earned value management, and change management while providing guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.

This is a full-time opportunity working on a 2:1 FIFO roster, with attractive remuneration and career development opportunities within a leading construction contractor.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead and coordinate all project controls functions across assigned projects.
  • Provide strategic oversight of cost control, planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and reporting.
  • Mentor and support Project Controls Engineers and Specialists.
  • Ensure project controls processes, systems, and governance requirements are consistently applied.
  • Lead the setup, implementation, and optimisation of InEight across new and existing projects.
  • Drive integration between project controls systems, Primavera P6, and ERP platforms.
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to project personnel.
  • Oversee project scheduling and planning activities using Primavera P6.
  • Develop and manage project control budgets based on tender submissions.
  • Lead monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and budget reviews.
  • Monitor actual costs, accruals, commitments, and productivity performance.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and management of project changes and variations.
  • Implement and maintain earned value management (EVM) processes.
  • Analyse project performance against budget, schedule, and progress metrics, recommending corrective actions where required.
  • Prepare and review client and internal project performance reports.
  • Present project controls insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project controls systems, processes, and reporting.
  • Work across various contract models, including Target Cost Estimate (TCE), Lump Sum (LS), and reimbursable contracts.

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience in a Project Controls Lead, Senior Project Controls Engineer, or Project Controls Manager role within the mining, energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience implementing and managing project controls systems, ideally InEight.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and earned value management.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and integrated project management platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and developing project controls personnel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working under various commercial and contract models, including Lump Sum and Target Cost contracts.
  • Proven ability to influence project outcomes through data-driven reporting and performance analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced FIFO project environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience on large-scale EPC/EPCM construction or major capital projects will be highly regarded.
  • Previous exposure to mining, oil & gas, energy, renewable energy, or heavy industrial projects is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
