About Tanami

Tanami is one of Australia’s most remote gold mining operations, located in the Northern Territory approximately 270km from Yuendumu. The mine and plant are located on Aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the Warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the Central Desert Aboriginal Lands Trust.

It is a fly-in, fly-out operation with a strong focus on safety, reliability and delivering a consistent experience for a large on-site workforce in a challenging environment.

Your impactReporting to the Process Supervisor, in the position of Process Technician you will operate and monitor the Tanami processing plant and associated infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient and reliable production outcomes.

This will include monitoring plant performance, identifying and responding to operational issues, maintaining production targets and quality parameters, and working closely with maintenance and production teams to maximise plant availability and performance. You will also have opportunities to step into a shift leadership role, supporting supervision of plant operations when required.

As part of our team you will

  • Operate and monitor plant equipment to achieve production, recovery and cost targets
  • Conduct inspections, complete log sheets and maintain accurate operational reporting
  • Identify plant performance issues and troubleshoot operational challenges
  • Isolate and tag equipment safely for maintenance in line with site procedures
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance teams to maximise plant availability
  • Work proactively with metallurgists, contractors and other shifts to optimise performance
  • Participate in safety programs, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and report plant performance and equipment failures in SAP
  • Contribute to a strong team culture through effective communication and collaboration

Prerequisites for your success in the role

  • 2–5 years’ experience in mineral processing (gold or similar environment preferred)
  • Sound understanding of mineral processing operations and plant equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions in an operational environment
  • Experience with plant control systems (e.g. SCADA) desirable
  • Exposure to SAP or similar systems beneficial but not essential
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Relevant tickets (forklift, loader, skid steer) and Certificate II in Metalliferous Mining are desirable

Your work environmentThis permanent position will be offered on an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster (day and night shift rotation) from Perth, Darwin or Brisbane. Camp accommodation and meals are provided on site.
