Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Process Engineer to join an established Engineering & Reliability team supporting a large-scale iron ore processing operation.
Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Perth
Start date: Mid Sept 2026
Duration: approx. 6 months - depending on client requirements
Pay Rate: $70.00 - $80 p/h + Super depending on experience

About the Role
This is a hands-on, site-based position focused on plant performance, metallurgical analysis and process optimisation. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory and Planning teams, you will use operational data and technical analysis to identify opportunities to improve plant throughput, product quality, reliability and overall process efficiency.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitor processing plant performance and partner with Operations to optimise quality and throughput.
- Prepare daily, weekly and end-of-month production and metallurgical reports.
- Undertake plant investigations, identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Analyse operational and metallurgical data to identify performance trends and optimisation opportunities.
- Support plant sampling, metallurgical testing and laboratory activities to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
- Contribute to shutdown planning, plant trials and unit-operation optimisation projects.
- Work across operational teams to improve plant availability, material selection and process efficiency.
- Support optimisation across key processing areas, including Desands.
- Liaise with Quality teams regarding feed blending to ROM to maximise product throughput and quality.
- Assist with management of OPF radiation gauges in accordance with applicable radiation safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the processing operation.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years' experience in mineral processing, gained within an operational or technical environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of iron ore processing, including dry and wet circuits.
- Knowledge of beneficiation principles and metallurgical testing.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving capability.
- High-level communication and technical writing skills.
- Strong MS Excel capability.
- Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced operational environment.
- A collaborative approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience:
- SAP or delay accounting system experience.
- Previous experience reviewing and updating P&IDs.
