About the Role

A respected engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior/Lead/Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership, governance, and mentorship across a diverse portfolio of mining and minerals processing projects. This is an opportunity to play a key role in project delivery from concept studies through to commissioning and operations while helping develop the next generation of engineers.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering governance, ensuring technical excellence, and driving high-quality project delivery. You will provide expert technical guidance, manage engineering resources, review deliverables, and maintain strong client relationships across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership and governance across engineering projects
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, regulations, and safety requirements
  • Reviewing and approving engineering designs and deliverables
  • Leading feasibility studies, detailed design, and technical evaluations
  • Supporting procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational activities
  • Managing engineering resources and project workloads
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Mentoring engineers and fostering technical development within the team
  • Promoting best-practice engineering principles and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

  • Significant experience delivering engineering solutions within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry environments.
  • Essential requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in mining or minerals processing projects
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and technical delivery
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, statutory regulations, and HSE requirements
  • Advanced technical expertise within your engineering discipline
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities
  • Highly regarded:
  • Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Australia)
  • Site-based experience across construction, commissioning, or operations
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development
