Job Description

Our Opportunity

Work Location:  Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster:  Monday to Friday.

** We will consider applications for Full-time OR Part-time **

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Principal Tax Advisor to support the Head of Tax on strategic, enterprise-wide and non-routine tax matters within a fast-paced, diverse and pioneering multinational environment.

This is a senior advisory role suited to a tax professional who can see across the full tax landscape, integrate different tax perspectives, anticipate emerging risks and lead high-impact tax initiatives through to completion. The role complements existing tax management positions and focuses on judgement, integration and strategic problem-solving, rather than day-to-day compliance delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on significant, novel and non-routine tax matters across multiple tax disciplines and jurisdictions
  • Bring together direct tax, international tax, reporting and governance perspectives to shape coherent, defensible outcomes
  • Identify emerging or systemic tax matters and provide senior review and quality assurance over key tax positions, submissions and disclosures
  • Support engagement with tax authorities and help maintain strong tax governance and assurance readiness
  • Contribute to tax advocacy initiatives and stay across tax policy and legislative developments relevant to the business
  • Lead discrete, high-impact tax initiatives from start to finish, coordinating input across Tax, Finance, other stakeholders and external advisors

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in corporate tax roles within multinational organisations and/or large, complex groups
  • Broad-based tax knowledge with the ability to operate across multiple tax disciplines
  • Proven ability to lead multi-faceted initiatives or projects through to completion, together with strong experience dealing with judgement-based, strategic or non-routine tax matters
  • Experience in tax risk management, governance and/or tax authority engagement, with demonstrated positive outcomes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Professional qualifications such as CTA, CA or CPA are preferred. Experience in resources, energy or other capital-intensive industries is advantageous.
