About the Role

The Principal Project Delivery & Construction role is a senior specialist position within the PER function and acts as the stream lead for project delivery execution in reviews.

You will provide independent technical leadership across Project Management discipline set up and performance, delivery readiness and execution to the strategy and all aspects construction, including the associated risk profile. This is done to support Execution Phase Reviews (EPRs) for major capital projects (typically >US$250M, and selected projects >US$100M).

Operating with credibility at project director, functional leader and executive levels, this role goes well beyond compliance — challenging plans, identifying early indicators of deviation and influencing timely, effective responses. You will also play a key role in lifting enterprise capability, consistency and decision quality in project delivery disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Phase Reviews (EPRs)

• Lead the project delivery workstream within structured, risk-based EPRs.
• Prepare clear workplans and test plans, identifying key artefacts and focus areas for review.
• Review delivery strategies, execution plans, sequencing, interfaces and readiness.
• Identify early warning indicators of potential delivery deviation from plan.
• Diagnose root causes and support development of credible mitigation or recovery actions.
• Contribute to high-quality EPR reporting for senior stakeholders.

Delivery Assurance

• Assess alignment between delivery strategy, schedule, cost and risk narratives.
• Identify optimism bias if it exists, embedded execution risk and systemic weaknesses.
• Provide evidence-based challenge while maintaining trust-based engagement.

Enterprise Value & Continuous Improvement

• Translate review insights into portfolio-level themes and emerging risks.
• Contribute to the projects improvement agenda between the Regional Projects teams, PER, and the Project Centre of Excellence (PCoE) to improve standards and routines.
• Strengthen enterprise execution discipline and delivery confidence.

About You

You are a highly experienced project delivery professional who can operate with authority and objectivity in senior forums, while retaining deep technical credibility.

• Significant experience delivering large, complex capital projects, ideally >US$250M.
• Strong background in project management and/or delivery execution and readiness.
• Experience with assurance, peer review, or governance processes.
• Ability to identify execution risk patterns and early indicators of deviation.
• Confidence to execute the GIRC mandate, including instances of challenge and influence to senior leaders.
• High professional integrity and sound judgement.
