Location– Perth Forrestfield - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster – Monday - Friday

Summary We are seeking a Principal – Integration to lead Fortescue’s multidisciplinary engineering integration capability supporting R&D and technology development programs. Working within a matrix delivery environment, this role provides functional leadership across Test Engineering, Project Engineering & Project Support, Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering / CAE. You will ensure teams have the capability, capacity, processes and tools required to deliver integrated engineering outcomes safely and effectively, while driving continuous improvement across engineering development, modelling, simulation, testing and validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across Test Engineering, Project Engineering & Project Support, Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering / CAE.
  • Manage engineering capability, capacity, resource allocation and priorities across concurrent R&D and technology development programs.
  • Partner with Program Managers and engineering leaders to translate program requirements into executable engineering activities, work packages and resource plans.
  • Ensure engineering outputs are delivered to agreed quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve engineering processes, systems, tools, governance and consistent ways of working.
  • Lead systems and test engineering capability, including RAM, requirements and attributes management, interfaces, traceability and verification and validation planning.
  • Drive integration between engineering disciplines, Science and Operations to support effective technology development, testing and validation.
  • Lead Digital Engineering and CAE capability, including modelling, simulation, model governance and model-test correlation.
  • Support effective application of AI and machine learning to modelling, optimisation, automation, data analysis and engineering decision-making.
  • Provide people leadership, coaching, workforce planning and capability development while fostering a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or technical teams within R&D, product development, mining, energy, industrial or technology environments.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, line management, team development and engineering capability-building experience.
  • Strong experience in systems engineering, test engineering, project engineering, project controls, digital engineering and/or engineering integration.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities across technology or product-development lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering outcomes against scope, quality, schedule and cost requirements.
  • Experience developing and embedding engineering processes, systems, tools and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, verification and validation, RAM, requirements management, engineering governance and assurance.
  • Experience with modelling, simulation and digital engineering environments, with an understanding of AI and machine-learning applications in engineering desirable.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Systems Engineering, Project Management or Engineering Management, and/or Chartered Engineering accreditation, are desirable.
